Objective:
Efficient use of water resources to enhance socio economic and environmental well-being of disadvantaged communities with gender equity.
- Community stewardship in sustainable use of water for replenishment benefits to man and nature
- Develop synergistic linkages between local authorities and local communities for climate compatible development.
Result:
- Construction of a total of 2646 RFT paved channel to irrigate 257 hectares of land provided with reliable source of water for agriculture activities
- 141.6 billion liter replenishes water to community and nature.
- Increased community coherence and inclusive and participatory decision making systems with inclusion of women, youth and marginalized groups in building societal resilience.
- Sustainable public works for Disaster risk reduction
- Increased resilience of target communities to absorb climate shocks and protect environment assets for ecosystem restoration
Major Activities undertaken:
- Formation of VO
- Share project information and build consensus between stakeholders on project deliverables, Community Organization formation, build capacity of Community Organization (CO)
- Develop project technical feasibility and design, construction of piped irrigation scheme
- Improved water availability for productive use
- 3 Meetings with community and relevant govt department to develop consensus on project activities in target school.
- Signing of terms of partnership (TOP) with Community Organization.
- Monitoring visits by MGPO staff, relevant govt department and CO.
- Survey of project input, outcomes and final report compilation.
- Project completion & handing over project to CO.
