Objective:

Creating synergy of actions through collaborative approaches to enhance social cohesion and develop robust linkages between stakeholders to pursue shared Objectives Increasing CSO capacity to perform dynamic competent functions in their roles as independent development actors with a constructive relationship with the state.

Providing research based support to policy makers to formulate adaptation policies and programs that are contextualized in time and place.

Promoting advocacy, raising awareness, building capacity and providing free flow of information on all issues related to climate change.

Providing inputs that help policy makers shift nations’ spatial time scale to temporal planning and policy horizons.

  • Increased agricultural productivity (crops and fodder)
  • Improved social and economic opportunities for asset enhancement
  • Ecological restoration (tree plantation, soil stabilization, reduced pressure on habitat)
  • Improved nutrition, health and productivity
  • Reduced workload on women with Improved physical and emotional wellbeing

Major Activities undertaken:

  • Strengthening institutional capacity of Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC)
  • Promote research, education and knowledge sharing
  • Collect and disseminate information using strong advocacy tools
  • Bring climate concerns to the attention of national and international authorities and non-state actors
  • Develop linkages with local, regional and international organizations, universities, networks, donors and government agencies for research and technical and financial support
  • Empower civil society to participate in policy processes and play a meaningful role in shaping the design of national climate change policy that is place based and people centric addressing their short and long term needs
  • Develop strategies that make policy makers responsive/accountable and communities partners/ facilitators
  • Build capacity of member organizations in developing and sharing climate smart adaptation and mitigation approaches based on social, ecological and democratic equity taking into account vulnerable groups, communities and eco systems.
